Who We Are
Python Asia Organization (PAO) is a non-profit organization registered in Estonia dedicated to advancing the Python programming language across East and Southeast Asia. As the official organizer of Python Asia Conferences and the rights holder of the PyCon APAC series and trademarks, PAO fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and community-driven initiatives to support Python enthusiasts and developers across the region.
Our Mission
Our mission is to promote, protect, and advance the Python programming language while cultivating a diverse and thriving regional community of Python programmers. Through structured programs, sustainable event planning, and leadership development, we empower individuals and organizations to leverage Python for innovation and impact.
Our Objectives
Python Asia Organization operates with a clear set of objectives to ensure long-term growth and sustainability within the Python community:
- Organize and Support Regional Conferences – Facilitate and support the annual regional conference to maintain a high standard of engagement and impact.
- Provide Financial Support – Assist regional country-level organizers in hosting events and programs.
- Reduce Organizer Fatigue – Establish standardized programs and workflows to streamline event planning and execution.
- Preserve Institutional Knowledge – Develop resources and documentation to ensure continuity in conference organization.
- Foster Community Leadership – Cultivate leadership roles and mentorship opportunities within the region.
- Distribute Leadership Responsibilities – Act as a final escalation point to balance leadership duties across the organization.
- Create Themed Working Groups – Establish working groups similar to the Python Software Foundation (PSF) to drive specific initiatives.
- Promote Global Community Participation – Serve as an umbrella organization to encourage engagement in international Python events.
- Support Travel & Participation – Enable community members to attend and contribute to global conferences.
- Nominate & Recognize Contributions – Encourage nominations for PSF Fellowships, the PSF Community Service Award, and other recognitions.
- Act as a Key Liaison – Serve as the regional point of contact between the Python Software Foundation (PSF) in the US and the EuroPython Society (EPS) in the EU.
- Manage Intellectual Property & Infrastructure – Own and maintain essential resources for regional Python communities.
