Python Across Asia: Stories, Communities, and Collaboration
A new initiative connecting Python communities across Asia, one conversation at a time.
We're proud to introduce Python Across Asia, an initiative from the Python Asia Organization. It's a space where Python communities from across East and Southeast Asia come together to share their stories, the conferences they organize, the projects they're building, and the lessons they've learned along the way.
Why we built this
For years, organizers across our region have built remarkable events. They've run conferences that draw hundreds of attendees, grown local communities from a handful of enthusiasts into thriving networks, and mentored the next generation of Python developers. They've done this with heart, on a volunteer basis, and often against real constraints of time and resources.
But there's a quiet challenge in all of this. So much of that work happens in parallel. A team in Jakarta solves a sponsorship problem that a team in Seoul may be facing at the very same time. An organizer in Hiroshima learns something about running hybrid events that could save a first-time organizer in Manila months of trial and error.
Too often, these lessons stay local. The communities that could learn the most from each other rarely find themselves in the same room.
Python Across Asia exists to change that.
It's built on a simple belief that has guided the Python Asia Organization from the start: our communities are stronger together. When one community grows, we all grow.
What makes it different
The Python world already has wonderful shows and podcasts, and they inspire us. Talk Python To Me and the Real Python Podcast have spent years bringing interviews and technical conversations to a global audience. Python Community News, hosted by longtime organizers, delivers regular livestreams about community happenings. EuroPython has also captured community conversations on video, while initiatives like PyTV have shown how engaging online Python events can be.
What we haven't seen as often is a show built specifically to connect organizers and communities across our region.
That's the gap Python Across Asia aims to fill.
This isn't simply a host interviewing a guest. It's communities in conversation, told from the perspective of the people doing the work, with our region's context, cultures, experiences, and challenges at the center.
It's regional by design and cross-community at its core.
What to expect
Python Across Asia is built around the people who make our communities thrive. Conversations may include:
- Community spotlights, told by the organizers themselves. You'll hear directly from the people building local communities about what they're working on, what they've learned, and what's coming next.
- Cross-community conversations about the ideas, challenges, and wins we share. Organizers from different countries can compare notes on topics such as sponsorship, volunteer sustainability, diversity and inclusion, conference organizing, community growth, and more.
- Community participation, giving viewers and community members opportunities to ask questions and join the conversation.
Real stories, real people, and plenty of reasons to get involved.
This is bigger than one show
Python Across Asia is one expression of a larger mission.
The Python Asia Organization exists to promote, protect, and advance the Python programming language while fostering a diverse and thriving community of Python programmers across East and Southeast Asia.
We do that by organizing events, supporting local community initiatives, creating opportunities for collaboration, and strengthening connections between communities across borders and with the wider global Python community.
Our vision is a united and resilient Python community across Asia — one that empowers local leaders, promotes collaboration, and sustains itself through shared resources and inclusive participation.
Python Across Asia is one way we turn that vision into something people can watch, join, learn from, and be part of.
